Ryan Chetwynd
Bio
Ryan, our owner and Head Surveyor, has extensive experience
with boats and ships, having been involved in the marine world from a young
age. Following his high school education, he attended the Nova Scotia Nautical
Institute, graduating with Honours as a Cadet in Marine Navigation. His career
began at sea onboard the largest fast ferry in North America at that time, The Cat, powered by four water jets.
Returning to his roots, Ryan fished in the North Atlantic and then transitioned into the Oil and Gas sector, specializing
in Marine and Subsea Construction. He served aboard heavy lift and pipelay
vessels of various sizes and capacities, operating in waters from 0m to over
2000m deep worldwide. His professional journey saw him rise through both
onshore and offshore management and command roles.
With over 20 years of combined experience, Ryan has worked
as a Barge Master, OIM, OCS, Marine Manager, and Client Representative. His
expertise includes towing, barge handling, pipelay (both shallow and deep water
using S and J Lay techniques), heavy lifting with offshore and onshore cranes,
multi-crane lifting and planning, anchoring, vessel planning, and providing
management support, project planning within the diverse marine
industries and MWS services.
Ryan established SeaWYND Marine to offer Small Craft Surveys
and Consulting services for nearly every aspect of Marine Environments,
leveraging his vast experience to deliver high-quality reports and
representation.
